Following an incident where he was spotted spraying Naira notes in Lagos, Ghanaian social media celebrity Firdaus Iddrisu, better known as Shatta Bandle, has apologized to the Nigerian public and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a now-viral video, Shatta Bandle can be seen publicly showering Naira notes on June 28 during his recent visit to Nigeria for Mr. Ibu’s funeral.
Nigeria has tight laws that forbid misusing its money. Given Nigeria’s strict legal system, Shatta Bandle’s act has drawn attention.
In a related example earlier this year, Nigerian celebrity Bobrisky was detained by the EFCC after he was seen spraying cash during a movie premiere. The EFCC accused him of abusing and mutilating banknotes.

Since then, Shatta Bandle has apologized for his behavior and made it clear that he had no intention of breaking any Nigerian laws.
He claimed that as the dollars ran out, he switched to naira, which is what caused the infraction. He had begun by spraying dollars.
Declaring Nigeria his future home, he said he respected the Nigerian laws and the EFCC.
“I apologise to you people; I didn’t come to break laws because Nigeria is my next home. I apologise to everybody especially EFCC to forgive me for what I have done,” he said.
