Two firefighters are in critical condition while 5 others are responding to treatment after they were involved in an accident while responding to an emergency.
The seven firefighters were aboard a fire tender from the Kade Fire Station when the accident occurred at Otwenkwanta, on the outskirts of Kade in the Eastern Region on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 9:00 AM.
Director of Public Relations, ACFO I Timothy Osafo-Affum issued a statement indicating that the 2 in critical condition have been admitted at the Kade Government Hospital. The 5 remain at the St. Dominic Hospital.
He also “Fortunately, one (1) crew member escaped unhurt”
While commending the firefighters for their bravery, he wished them well adding that Ghana National Fire Service is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its personnel amidst their service to the public.
The cause of the accident is being investigated.
