The Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) National Executives Council has halted the strike that was announced on August 2, 2021.
Members (Senior Staff) were instructed to suspend the strike and resume work immediately in a letter signed by the association’s National Chairman, Zakaria Mohammed.
He said that the decision was taken in response to the National Labour Commission’s judgment on August 6, 2021, and numerous interventions were made on behalf of the government by the Ministers of Education, Employment, and Labor Relations, as well as the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
According to him, this resulted in the creation of a road plan that acts as a roadmap for ensuring honesty and justice in resolving any outstanding issues between us and the government.”
He said that the union’s executive council would continue to engage the government and other relevant parties faithfully in its pursuit of “justice, fairness, and equality in the administration of our members’ wages and allowances.”
Members of the Association are requesting market premium and non-basic allowance payments, as well as the conclusion of discussions about their employment terms.
