Residents of Denkyira Akwaboso in the Upper Denkyira West Municipality of the Central Region have killed 5 suspected armed robbers in a shootout during a confrontation between them.
Two of the suspected armed robbers, a male and a female are however on the run after escaping the shootout.
Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Evans Isaac Ettie who confirmed this to the media on Monday said, the incident occurred on Friday September 3, 2021 when the robbers had attempted to rob some residents of the town but five of the robbers were shot dead during a shootout between the robbers and residents.

The Diaso District Police Command on reaching the scene of incident after a tip off found five young men dead with various degrees of gunshot wounds on their bodies.
Two locally manufactured guns and 14 empty cartridges were also found at the scene of incident.
Inspector Ettie said Residents identified one of the robbers as Attah, a well-known hardened arm robber within the community and on the Diaso Police command wanted list.
The police have since launched investigations into the incident and bodies conveyed to Sefwi-Bibiani government hospital mortuary for preservation, identification and autopsy.
