The Head of Research and Policy at The UNESCO Category II Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) of the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Wisdom Kwaku Agbevanu says training of more certified educational planners in the country will be very beneficial in addressing some of the challenges in Ghana’s educational sector
He notes that, to achieve great results, Ghana’s education sector needs better data collection for data driven solutions and informed policy which can only be proposed and implemented by professional educational planners.
“We need to ensure that we are providing quality training to all the people who we are referring to as educational planners because there is an increasing need to monitor the education system at all levels, at the regional level, at the school level, at the district level.” He emphasized.
Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE Tuesday, Dr. Agbevanu stressed that training more professional educational planners will help to ensure that Ghana’s education system, especially, the basic education produces desirable outcomes which will foster Ghana’s strive of achieving sustainable development goal SDG4.
He noted that the country currently lacks an adequate number of certified professional planners and as such more of them must be trained to occupy positions at the district, regional, and at the school level to enable them to collect the needed information to ensure the provision of equitable and quality education.
He further stated that providing the right form of education will equip the learner to solve individual and societal problems.
