Mr Percy Opata, NABCO Coordinator, Tema Metropolitan encouraged trainees on Tuesday to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors rather than pursuing non-existent white-collar work.
He told the trainees during an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Tema that it was not too late for them to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the government through the entrepreneurship model of the programme, as it would allow them to explore their skills, ideas, and contribute to the creation of more job opportunities in the region.
According to the NABCO Coordinator , the entrepreneurship initiative allowed individuals with business plans to submit proposals to the National Board for Small Scale Industry (NBSSI), for review and consideration in the business field.
He pleaded with the government to assist youth in presenting their business ideas and to provide them with the necessary resources to launch them.

“To get China to where they are now, the government provided opportunities for young people, and all we use now is a result of Chinese technological advancement,” he said.
He stressed that Ghana possessed raw materials that were often shipped in their raw state and that such concepts could aid in their production.
“You have little regard for these boys selling coconuts, but do you know how much money they get every day? You have no idea how much they purchase it for; assuming they buy one for GH1.50 and sell it for GH2.50, consider the amount they are getting at the end of the day; it is more than you are earning sitting in the office,” he added.
Mr Opata urged the youth to place a greater emphasis on entrepreneurship programs in order to generate more market ideas.
“Two or three individuals should meet and come up with sound proposals, which the government would gladly support.”
