The Ghana Armed Forces has debunked the purported arrest of Brigadier General Michael Opoku for the alleged possession of ammunition.
The Ghana Armed Forces, in a statement, denied several news publications of Brigadier-General Opoku’s arrest.
The statement, signed by the Forces’ Acting Director-General of Public Relations Captain V. A. Arhin, reiterated that none of the state’s investigative and security agencies had publicized an arrest of said nature.
“The Armed Forces can confirm that Brigadier-General Michael Opoku remains an active member of the Ghana Armed Forces and is not under arrest for any crime committed.”, the statement read.
The statement also assured that “any military personnel involved in any crime of any nature would be subjected to the same procedure as any other citizen of the Country.”
The Ghana Armed Forces urged the public to desist from “misinformation and disinformation activities.”
