Prudential Bank Ghana Limited has donated a cheque for GH¢500, 000.00 to support the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to establish a Biomedical and Clinical Research Center.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of Management and Staff, the Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. John K. Addo, noted that the gesture was to express the Bank’s appreciation to the University and said the Bank was pleased to be associated with UCC.
He was optimistic that the amount would go a long way to assist the UCC to establish a Research Center to complement the efforts of other similar research centers in the country.
The Managing Director stated that the Bank’s commitment to giving back to its partners formed part of the core principles of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
For his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, who received the donation on behalf of the UCC, expressed gratitude to Prudential Bank for the nice gesture.
He said Prudential Bank’s support towards the proposed Biomedical and Clinical Research Center would provide the same services that Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) were providing.
He added that the Center would also be of immense help to both staff and students to produce quality research.
Prof Boampong noted that the Bank’s assistance was a further testament that the Bank was truly committed to the general well-being of staff and students of the University.

Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs- Mrs. Akosua A. Boahen, the Cape Coast Branch
Manager of the Bank, Mr. Eric Sarpong Appau as well as the UCC Branch Manager, Mr. Benjamin Darko.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rosemond Boohene, and the Registrar, Mr. Jeff Teye E. Onyame, were present at the event.
