Ahead of the 65th Independence Anniversary celebration, a ten-day official program outline has been launched by the National Celebrations Planning Committee and the Central Regional Coordinating Council.
The 2022 Independence Day celebration will commence on February 25 to March 12, 2022.
This was revealed during a press briefing held on Thursday after the National Celebrations Planning Committee’s last meeting.
Addressing the press, chairman for the committee, Laud Commey, indicated that the Regional Coordinating Council has lined up local programs into the official ones to be celebrated alongside what has been communicated to the public.
He urged Ghanaians to join in the euphoria and also invest in the region as it is the first time since its inception that the national Independence Day celebration will be held in Cape Coast.
“…and I’m sure that the Central Region will be better off boosting the local economy and creating more jobs for our people,” he said.
This year’s celebration will include programs such as Clean Central Campaign, Ghana Health fitness walk, Christian and Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving, What Do You Know and 28th February Christiansburg Crossroad Shooting. Others include; National Flag Hoisting Day,” Wear Ghana Day, Anniversary Debate, Central Regional Industrialization Drive Forum, and Believe in Ghana Concert among others.
On the subject of Ghanaian industrialization, the Operations Director of Ekumfi Fruit and Juices Limited, Kobby Acquaah, noted that his outfit is proud to be leading the way in that regard.
“Ekumfi Fruit and Juices Limited is very happy to be part of this program and to be a lead in getting us to lead the industrialization drive of Ghana. It is no wonder Ekumfi Fruits and Juices was the first project that His Excellency the President in August of 2017 used to launch the one District One Factory as a national project” he noted.
Mr. Acquah expressed support for the President’s vision in making the region more job-friendly.
The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, expressed gratitude to the President for choosing the Central Region to host the 65th Independence Celebration.
She indicated the region is ready to host the event.
