The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice-Presidential candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has emphasized the harm caused by “politically motivated chaos,” stating that it undermines the peace and integrity of politics.
As the December elections approach, she highlighted the need for “promoting peaceful dialogue during her campaign tour in the Western North of Ghana.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang met with the Paramount Chief of Aowin, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III, urging traditional leaders to “continually advocate for peace in the lead-up to the elections.”
She also called on the Electoral Commission(EC) of Ghana to respond to the NDC’s request for a forensic audit of the provisional voters’ register, asserting that such an action “would help ensure a peaceful electoral process.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang began her three-day tour of the Western North Region on October 1, 2024, focusing on several constituencies including Aowin, Suaman, Bodi, Bia East, Bia West, Sefwi Wiawso, Sefwi Akontombra, and Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai.
Throughout her campaign, she will focus on the NDC’s presidential and parliamentary election objectives, seeking to secure votes while promoting plans to “revitalize the nation” through job creation, support for the cocoa sector, improvements in education, and the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank aimed at empowering women financially.
