Following his arrest and bail grant of GHS 2 million, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has been asked to take his security into his own hands.
On his Twitter handle on June 8, Builsa South Member of Parliament, Dr. Clement Apaak wrote “If this move is a plot to cow or intimidate Prof. Boateng for exposing the involvement of NPP officials, gov’t officials, including some in the Presidency, in illegal mining/galamsey, it has failed on arrival. Prof. must take his personal security into his own hands though!”
A few weeks ago, the Special Prosecutor invited a renowned heart surgeon to discuss his report on the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).
He is being investigated for corruption and corruption-related activities and his involvement in the missing of some 500 excavators.
Since then, the Former Minister of Environment has been expressing disappointment in this development.
In an interview on Accra-based Joy News, he said he feel victimized emphasizing the question; ‘what wrong have I done in this country.’
According to him, he did his best to make Ghana a better place and he did it at heart with no expectations in return.
“As we go along in life in this country, others who have the power or the influence now should know that at some point, they will also be held accountable for what they’re doing.
I take a cue from my belief; what really did Jesus Christ gain by coming to die for us? That was very sacrificial. So if you are expecting a return for something you do for an entity that is no sacrifice,” he continued.
Meanwhile, in a statement on Tuesday, May 2, the Special Prosecutor said he will take necessary action against all persons cited for wrongdoing in the controversial report done by Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
