The founding Dean of the Faculty of Educational Planning, UCC, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson has been appointed the Vice Chancellor of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Somanya in the Eastern Region.
He becomes the first vice chancellor of the university and will serve a-four-year tenure.
The governing council of the university which was recently inaugurated has Prof. Jonathan Aryetey as chairman, Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson as the Vice Chancellor and Mrs Efua Esaaba Egyir-Tetteh, a member. The rest are Prof. John Blay, Madam Gina Odarteifio and Ing. Johannes Twumasi-Mensah, are all members. The interim management team of the University has Prof Nyarko-Sampson, the Vice Chancellor with Mrs. Mary Agyepong as Registrar and Mr. Baffour Awuah Kwabi as the Finance Officer.

Prof Nyarko Sampson assumes his new role with extensive research and publications in areas of career counseling, school counseling, teacher education, issues in multiculturalism, and entrepreneurial education. His major research also focuses on implementation and evaluation of counseling services at all levels in Ghana’s educational institutions.
His studies also investigate entrepreneurship as an alternative to building careers among the youth.

Prof. Eric Nyarko-Sampson, since 2017 has been the board chair of the National Teaching Council.
He hails from Abakrampa in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the central region.
