In a move to strengthen his administration, President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the names of 13 nominees for Deputy Ministerial positions to Parliament for prior approval.
The nominations, in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution, cover a range of critical ministries.
Notable nominees include Thomas Nyarko Ampem for the Ministry of Finance, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi for the Ministry of the Interior, and Clement Abas Apaak for the Ministry of Education.
Other appointments include Richard Gyan-Mensah for the Ministry of Energy & Green Transition, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini for the Ministry of Roads & Highways, and Yusif Sulemana for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
Additionally, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba has been nominated as Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms.
The President’s decision to nominate these individuals comes as part of efforts to enhance governance and address critical sectors within the government. The nominees now await parliamentary approval before their official appointments.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson for the President, confirmed the nominations in a statement on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
