Ghana’s President John Mahama has offered British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua ‘special’ citizenship and appointed him as Africa’s boxing ambassador during his visit to Accra.
Joshua was in the city for the Legacy RISE Sports: Battle of the Beasts boxing event organized by the president’s son, Sharaf Mahama, when he met with President Mahama at the Jubilee House.
Impressed by Joshua’s success and his connections to Ghana, President Mahama invited him to consider the country his second home.
“Ghana is your second home; if you want a passport, we’ll gladly provide one,” the president stated.

Joshua expressed his admiration for Ghana’s boxing tradition, saying his visit was unplanned but too appealing to resist. “I’m amazed by the culture and the warm reception I’ve received,” he remarked.
