President Akufo-Addo has nominated Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG).
The nomination is expected to take effect in accordance with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the regulations governing the ECG while the President’s directive to implement this nomination is now in the hands of the relevant authorities.
A letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo read “The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwabena Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited”.
Hon. Afenyo-Markin succeeds Herbert Krapa, who has now taken on the role of Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.
The President extended his best wishes to Hon. Afenyo-Markin, underscoring the importance of this role in ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity across the country.
“Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company, Please accept the President’s best wishes.” the letter said.
