Alan Kyeremanten, Trades and Industry Minister, has been tipped as the man to head the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections, according to the second national tracking survey performed by Global InfoAnalytics Limited.
Alan Kyeremanten led Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by 36% to 33% in the polls, which were conducted in all 16 regions of the country.
Except for the Northern, North East, Upper West, and Upper East areas, Mr. Kyerematen won all of them.
The Trades Minister had turned things around to seize the lead in the second survey. Dr. Bawumia received 40% of the vote in the first poll, which was held in January of this year, compared to 28% for Alan Kyeremanten.
Meanwhile, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) camp, John Mahama continues to outperform his opponents, former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu.
The NDC’s 2020 Presidential candidate dominated his opponents with 57%, while Dr. Kwabena Duffour got 12%.
According to the survey, the president’s job approval rating has dropped from 34% in January 2022 to 27% in April 2022.
On the topic of whether people feel the country is headed in the right or wrong direction, only 26% believe it is heading in the right direction, while 67% believe it is heading in the wrong one.
Concerning the E-levy, the poll found that 40% of Ghanaians will only transfer money over electronic platforms when absolutely essential when the levy is implemented.
Twenty-six percent of the people stated that they will withdraw their funds in order to avoid being charged 1.5 percent of any transaction that surpasses GHC100 per day.
According to the poll, 18% sought to pursue alternatives in order to avoid being taxed.
Despite the implementation of the e-levy, 9 percent of those polled said they will continue to conduct electronic transactions.
In addition, the study found that voters will examine employment concerns, economic performance, and education before casting ballots in the next general election. Overall, the economy performed well, with a 20 percent increase.
