Corporate Governance Expert and lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Studies (GIMPA), Dr. Kwaku Anane-Gyinde has bemoaned what he refers to as rude and crude language from Ghanaian politicians.
According to him, politicians gain power through the populace and as such must learn to show respect in their utterances to the public.
His comments follow what many describe as unsavory, the Communication Minister, Ursula Ekuful’s recent comments on the introduction of the new e-levy on mobile money and other electronic transactions.
Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful on Accra-based GHOne TV after 2022 budget reading last Wednesday indicated that “if you have more than 100 cedis to send a day then you are not poor”
Dr. Gyinde notes that such offensive language only makes the government of the day unpopular and should not be encouraged adding that, “that language is very crude and if you are in government you have to be more responsible in your responses”

He added that paying numerous taxes in the country is already a difficult task that should not be intensified with foul language from politicians.
He notes that words from politicians regarding such a matter should rather encourage the target audience to comply rather than spark anger or non-compliance on their part.
