The Ghana Police Service has launched investigation into the purported planting of substances suspected to be narcotics in the vehicle of one Dr. Patrick Asiedu which was revealed in an audio circulating on social media.
In the audio, Dr. Patrick Asiedu, the victim of the alleged incident said, he was stopped by the four policemen on his way home. According to him, the police asked him to step out of his car for it to be checked but to his surprise, the police said they had weed in his car.
He called his brother from the Ghana Armed Forces who upon further investigations found that his brother Dr. Patrick Asiedu was being framed by the police.
However, the Police Service in a statement dated 17th January 2023 and signed by the director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi said their initial checks at the stations mentioned in the audio, as well as at the Narcotics Control Commission and the Ghana Armed Forces have all revealed no such incident has taken place.
The police however they will get to the bottom of the matter as the police services will not condone any unprofessional conduct among its officers.
They are therefore calling on the victim and anyone with relevant information to contact 0200416540 to assist the police as they continue investigations into the incident.
