The man seen in a viral video whipping a toddler has been apprehended by police.
Richard Kofi, thought to be the boy’s father, was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon at Akaa Buem in Jasikan, Oti Region.
According to the Fourth Estate, the suspect’s wife was also apprehended by authorities.
About two days ago, a video of a man flogging a child believed to be about three years old began to circulate on social media.
Although it is unclear what prompted the man to commit such an act, the toddler can be seen and heard wailing pathetically in the video.

Many people who saw the video shared it and alerted the police to the abuse.
Subsequently, the Police responded to the video and said, “efforts are underway to track down the individual involved, have him arrested and rescue the child.”
The police had also issued a ¢2,000.00 reward for anyone who could provide credible information leading to the arrest of the male adult involved in the conduct.
Child Rights International, a non-governmental organization that criticized the flogging, set a $10,000 reward on the man’s head.
In the meanwhile, the child has been rescued. After his parents were arrested, he was placed in the custody of the police.
However, gospel artist Sonnie Badu has demanded that the other person present when the perpetrator was hitting the child be arrested.
He said that the two other males who stood by and watched the child being flogged were accomplices.
“I can’t play the full video as I’m already full of tears. @ghpoliceservice please arrest all three men! The one abusing the child, the one videoing it and the one sitting down,” Sonnie Badu wrote.
