The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of Alhaji Sofo Azorka in connection with an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman during the Akwatia by-elections on September 2, 2025.
In a press statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Eastern South Regional Public Affairs Unit, police indicated that the suspect was arrested in Tamale on September 10, 2025, after investigations were initiated.
“Caution statement has been obtained from the suspect and he has been released on bail to report to the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Kyebi on September 16, 2025, at 10 a.m., for him to be arraigned before the court,” the statement read.
The Police Service assured the public of a thorough investigation into the incident and urged residents to remain calm.
“We want to assure the public that we are committed to ensuring justice and will communicate further developments in due course,” the statement added.
