The local authorities have reached an agreement with Manchester United to guarantee that the redevelopment plans for the ground benefit the neighborhood surrounding Old Trafford.
To investigate the viability of remodeling the stadium or constructing a new one, the team assembled a task committee led by Lord Sebastian Coe.
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Manchester United, and Trafford Council have partnered to make sure the designs are advantageous for the neighborhood surrounding the stadium.
Lord Coe said the agreement would “help fully unlock the incredibly exciting potential” of the redevelopment.

‘World-class stadium’
Trafford Council has developed a concept that includes around 5,000 additional dwellings for the Trafford Wharfside region.
The council has also presented plans for improved access to Salford and the Manchester city center.
A new advisory group will be established as part of the relationship with United to direct the area’s regeneration, including determining how any new stadium will fit into these plans.
It’s not the same as the stadium work team led by Lord Coe, which also includes former Red Devils captain Gary Neville and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
By the end of 2024, the group should have made up its mind about whether to move forward with the £2 billion idea for a new stadium that can hold 100,000 spectators.
Lord Coe said the “once-in-a-generation project” would see the “development of a world-class stadium for the north of England”.
But it would also aim to bring “broad social and economic benefits to the local area and surrounding region”.
