Despite the fact that Stonebwoy, Camidoh, and Sarkodie have been named as possible candidates for the top VGMA Artiste of the Year nominations, gospel singer Piesie Esther and Kwaku The Traveller hitmaker, Black Sherif have emerged as favorites to be crowned.
Now the ground has been created for what appears to be a fierce battle in the coming days, as the two were nominated for the Artiste of the Year category.
Black Sherif, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Camidoh, KiDi, the incumbent VGMA Artiste of the Year, Piesie Esther, and Joe Mettle are this year’s Artiste of the Year nominees.

Even before Piesie Esther was nominated, certain gospel music industry professionals, including Kofi Donkor, manager and husband of colleague Celestine Donkor, predicted that the W’aye Me Yie performer would take home the top medal at this year’s awards ceremony.
Yet, with Black Sherif’s gigantic exploits garnering national headlines in the previous year, the event will definitely be a difficult challenge.
Charterhouse revealed the nominations list for this year’s event earlier yesterday, with the exception of the “Big five” – Best New Artiste, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, and Artiste of the Year – which were announced last night at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
