Accurate Information Now Critical for Passport Delivery, Ministry Warns
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration is urging Ghanaians to double-check the accuracy of their contact information when applying for passports, after a large number of passport booklets were returned undelivered.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, many of the returned passports had been in the possession of courier services contracted to distribute them but could not be delivered due to incorrect phone numbers, home addresses, or both.
Hundreds of Passports Returned to PACs
Under the Ministry’s current policy, passports are returned to the nearest Passport Application Centre (PAC) if delivery is unsuccessful after 21 days. The Ministry revealed that many applicants who are yet to receive notifications about their passports may have submitted invalid or outdated contact details.

“Passport applicants who have not received any notification on the delivery of their passports are to contact the PACs where their biometric details were captured to arrange for collection,” the Ministry stated. Applicants may also call the Passport Client Service Unit on 0302 754 200 for further assistance.
Public Urged to Avoid Delays by Providing Correct Details
The Ministry has emphasized the need for greater public responsibility in ensuring the success of the passport issuance and delivery process. It warned that inaccurate information not only delays delivery but puts undue pressure on administrative systems and staff at the Passport Application Centres.
“Applicants are encouraged to cross-check their telephone numbers and addresses at the point of application to avoid disruptions in the delivery process,” the statement added.
This appeal forms part of the Ministry’s broader effort to enhance service efficiency, reduce backlog, and improve overall customer experience within the passport acquisition system.
