A day’s musical concert held on Friday, October 6, 2023, in Cape Coast has spurred the need for parents to help their wards discover their life potentials and capabilities and to build on them”.
The musical concert took place in commemoration of the 4th-anniversary celebration of the Immaculate Heart Choir of ST. Anthony Catholic Church, Mpeasem-Mary Queen of Peace Parish-Archdiocese of Cape Coast.
Speaking at the ceremony, a Lecturer with the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Paulina Ampomah appealed to parents to encourage their children to embrace various avenues beyond their academic pursuits.
She emphasized that focusing solely on education may limit children from realizing their full potentials.
“Life is multifaceted,” Dr. Ampomah remarked “Parents should allow their children to explore other avenues that they can express themselves better”
Speaking on the theme for the celebration: Cultivating Child Life Faith and Nurturing God-given Gifts and Melodious Journey, aimed to uncover children’s musical talents and equip them with the necessary skills to nurture those talents.
Based on her passion for music and love for children, Dr. Ampomah established a singing club to assist the children in discovering their potentials.
To this end, she established a singing club in the church to assist the children in discovering their singing talents.
To her, such skills could pave the way for opportunities for the children to participate in local and international singing and music competitions.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Desmond Omane Acheampong who chaired the program commended Dr. Paulina Ampomah for her dedication to nurturing the kids to discover their potentials.
He indicated that such programs help to mould the character of the children and improve their academic performance.
“As a teacher, to be able to keep kids singing for almost one hour, it tells you how disciplined they have become joining the choir and it will translate in their studies,” he continued.
He, therefore, urged all and sundry especially parents to support and engage children in such activities for their personal development.
