Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, General Overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, and six others have been charged with 11 additional criminal offenses in connection with their ongoing feud with Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng, formerly known as Nana Agrada.
The others are Mensah Ofori, a Church Pastor, Bright Berchie, a Church member, and Kwabena Nyarko alias Matata, another Church Pastor. Producer Nana Acheampong, Blogger Nana Brown, and Journalist Kwame Amoh.
The seven defendants, meanwhile, have pleaded not guilty to the accusations. They have been freed on bail of 100,000 Ghana cedis apiece with two sureties.
They were re-arrested this morning, just after an Accra Circuit Court freed them. The offenses include ofensive conduct, threats of death, as well as conspiracy and abetment.
According to the facts as provided by the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey, the Complainant in this instance is Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng.
She reported that on September 8, 2021, Mensah Ofori and Bright Berchie threatened to kill her and brandished a gun at her with a 24-hour notice to kill her over claims that she had insulted Rev. Owusu Bempah. According to reports, a video recording of the alleged threat quickly went viral on social media.
Following that, on September 9, 2021, Nana Acheampong and Nana Brown led the accused persons and 45 well-built men wielding cutlasses and other offensive weapons to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng’s property in Weija, where they encountered her absence and proceeded to her residence in New Aplaku.
The resulting uproar and threats were apparently reported to Weija Officers by a witness, prompting police to respond. According to the statement, Rev. Owusu Bempah’s formal police request to report to help with the inquiry was disregarded.
Mrs. Evelyn Asamoah, the Judge, has asked the Prosecution to submit their disclosures by December 3, 2021, with the Court reconvening on December 14, 2021.
