Director of Administration at the Ghana Hajj Board Task Force, Alhaji Iddi Sumaila, has disclosed that a total of 5,525 Ghanaian pilgrims have successfully arrived in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, as part of the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
Speaking on Peace FM, Alhaji Iddi stated that out of the 5,910 registered pilgrims, only 385 are yet to depart, noting that these individuals are scheduled to fly on the final and 14th flight on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, marking what he described as a remarkable milestone in Ghana’s Hajj operations.
“We have so far flown 5,525 pilgrims to Mecca using 13 flights, and we are preparing for the final flight on Wednesday. Inshaa Allah, everything will go smoothly,” he assured.
Alhaji Iddi also addressed claims circulating on social media regarding poor accommodation and food for Ghanaian pilgrims in Mecca.
He dismissed the allegations as false, noting that all services provided undergo strict approval processes by the Saudi Hajj Ministry.
“It is not true that our pilgrims do not have proper sleeping places or healthy meals. These are unfounded claims. The Hajj Ministry in Saudi Arabia must approve all services, so such misinformation should not be taken lightly,” he clarified.
He further urged pilgrims and stakeholders to prioritize truth and channel any grievances through the appropriate structures of the Hajj Board rather than airing them on social media platforms.
“If there are concerns, we are ready to listen and address them. But they should come to us directly, not through social media. This is a spiritual journey, and it must be handled with sincerity and decorum,” he advised.
With just one flight remaining, the Hajj Board is optimistic about concluding this year’s operations successfully and ensuring a meaningful pilgrimage experience for all Ghanaian participants.
