On Tuesday, Opera introduced a new browser called Opera Neon, designed to enhance AI workflows and automate tasks such as shopping, form filling, and coding.
Currently, the browser is available via a waitlist, and users will need a subscription to access it upon release, though pricing details have not been disclosed.
Opera Neon features three new buttons in its sidebar: Chat, Do, and Make. The Chat button opens a chatbot interface, allowing users to search the web, get answers to queries, and learn more about the webpages they visit.

The Do button utilizes the company’s Browser Operator AI agent, announced in March, which can perform tasks like filling out forms and managing trip bookings directly within the browser.
The Make button is particularly noteworthy, as it claims to create games, websites, code snippets, reports, and more based on text prompts. According to Opera, these AI workflows run through a cloud-based virtual machine, enabling Neon to handle tasks independently, even offline, and allowing users to run multiple tasks simultaneously.
While these features sound promising, similar AI applications have faced challenges in performance. Additionally, Opera is not alone in developing AI agents for browsers; The Browser Company hinted at an AI-powered browser last December, and Google is also exploring AI-driven projects for search and task automation.
