A viral video of a religious leader forcibly kissing several female teacher trainees while standing on a platform has enraged social media users.
Fully clothed in his cassock, Rev. Fr Baltharzar Obeng Larbi of the St. Monica’s College of Education was spotted kissing several of the females on stage in turn.
He was seen indicating to one of the females, who seemed to be extremely uncomfortable with the action to remove her face mask before holding her head and kissing her on the lips in one case.
The video, which was taken by a member of the crowd, has received widespread criticism on social media, but others have defended the Reverend father, calling his behaviour a “holy kiss.”
According to reports that have yet to be fully confirmed by Citi News, the Rev. Fr. Larbi kissed the final-year students after presenting them with presents while reading the Bible.
The Anglican Church, which operates Mampong’s St. Monica’s College of Education, said it is looking into the matter.
The Rev. Father is reported to be a lawyer and the school’s Chaplain.
