The Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle has urged old students of the Ola College of Education to be good ambassadors of the institution.
He called on them to give back to the school by raising funds for the expansion of the school adding that they are the bedrock of the college.
Speaking at the 97th Anniversary and Inauguration of the Centenary Planning Committee of the College, he called on the Alumni to be ambassadors of their alma mater, colleagues, friends, and family as well as business partners especially on the impending centenary celebration, and the fund in order to raise efforts towards making the college greater, grander and more memorable.
“May your name be mentioned not only as a former student who has passed through this place but especially among those benefactors who in gratitude to God gave in order to further the growth and enhancements of generations,” he said.
On her part, the Principal of OLA College of Education, Dr. Mrs. Regina Okyer-Dankwa stated that college has as it vision a holistic education for the woman who will not just be a trainer of other young women, but also a tool that frames change and development for families and society as a whole.
According to her, the college has experienced growth and development adding that “She now offers four-year Bachelor of Education programmes such as; B. Ed. Primary Education, B.Ed. Early Childhood Education, B.Ed. Junior High School Education. Our new university status has led to the rebranding of the college thus we have and continue to achieve through intense staff development and re-ordering of administrative structures to befit a university system.”
Dr. Mrs. Regina Okyer-Dankwa noted that in the 97 years of existence, the OLA College of education has contributed to the nation’s choice of educators and human resources and as such she acknowledges the unique role the college provides in educating women and enabling them to excel in an environment.
To this end, she said, “as we move towards the centenary of our existence in 2024, we shall gratefully expect a renewal of this commitment to support our search towards breaking in grounds.”
