The Oguaa Traditional Council has moved to clarify ongoing discussions surrounding the traditional leadership of Abura, Cape Coast, firmly asserting that there is only one officially recognized Chief and Queen Mother of the area.
At a press briefing held today, Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast, the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, emphasized that Nana Kodwo Addae II remains the legitimate Chief of Abura, while Nana Ekuwa Okutta III is the recognized Queen mother.
Reading from an official press statement, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II said the council’s attention had been drawn to “recent claims and public discussions regarding the traditional leadership of Abura.”
He stressed that “any other person or group purporting to hold the Abura stool or represent the traditional leadership of Abura does so without recognition from the Oguaa Traditional Council and the established customary authority.”
The Oguaa Traditional Council further urged the general public, institutions, and the media to take note of the clarification and accord the necessary respect and recognition to the legitimate traditional leaders of Abura.
The press briefing, attended by members of the Oguaa Traditional Council and local media, sought to reaffirm the council’s authority and ensure unity within the traditional area.
By this clarification, the council hopes to put to rest any confusion surrounding the leadership of Abura and maintain the integrity of its customary institutions.
