The Oguaa Traditional Council has announced a ban on noise-making and funeral activities within the Oguaa Traditional Area effective today, 6th August 2024, to Thursday, 22nd August 2024, in preparation for the 2024 Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival.
Activities Prohibited During the Ban include, Excessive noise-making of any kind, Quarrelling within the traditional area, Pounding fufu after 6pm ,Playing of drums (churches are advised to keep PA systems and microphones at low volumes), Wailing or mourning, Fishing in the Nana Kobina Fosu Lagoon until 3rd September 2024 and Funeral activities until 21st September 2024.
A statement signed by Nana Ama Kesson (Mrs. Charlotte Osei), Chairperson of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye ’24 Planning Committee, urged all churches, mosques, bars, lounges, restaurants, entertainment venues, corporate institutions, and residents to adhere to these directives and respect the cultural traditions of the Oguaa Traditional Area.
The statement added that Volunteers from the seven asafo companies will collaborate with the Traditional Council to enforce the ban, with any violations resulting in sanctions imposed by the Oguaa Traditional Council.
