Mr. Joe Jackson, Director of Business Operations at Dalex Finance, claims that the Finance Minister’s press conference on Sunday, May 9, 2021, failed to address Ghanaians’ real concerns.
According to him, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta simply rehash the government’s initiatives over the time, which falls short of alleviating economic hardship.
During a press conference over the weekend, the Finance Minister outlined the government’s interventions and planned measures to support the economy.
This comes in the wake of continuing national outrage about the high cost of living and other associated issues.

However, in an interview with Citi TV’s The Point of View, Mr. Joe Jackson stated that the recent public outpouring of rage cannot be resolved by press conferences, but rather by concrete actions.
According to him, the true needs of the citizens cannot be minimized.
“Trumpeting your achievements does not fix my pocket, and when I talk about my pocket, I’m talking about the public sentiments that are being expressed, and the dissatisfaction in the level of unemployment with the public services, the dumsor, the roads, and the issues related to education, security, health services, and housing that are making people unhappy, as well as the perception of the increasing unemployment.
“So asking anyone who says there is corruption, telling him about 1D1F, Planting for Food and Jobs, and the others, however deep-rooted these might be, does not fix his or her problem.”
Dr. John Kumah, MP for Ejisu and Deputy Finance Minister Designate, said on the same program that the government has generated over two million jobs in its bid to reduce the burden on citizens.
“Over two million jobs have been generated by this government in the last four years, and this was presented to Parliament by the Ministry of Labour by the sector Minister during his vetting, and this includes all government programs like Planting for Food and Jobs, 1D1F, and the rest,” he said.
