Ofori Amponsah, a Ghanaian highlife musician, expressed in a recent interview that he wishes he had never written a song for any artist, even the late Kofi B.
The “Alewa” hitmaker claimed in an interview with YouTuber Zionfelix that some of the persons for whom he had written songs afterward expressed ungraciousness toward him.
“I wrote ‘Yaw Dompre’, ‘Koforidua Flowers’ and ‘Odwo’ for Kofi B. Something happened along the way so I took out ‘Odwo’. I even wanted to back take all the songs from him. They are my songs. Up till now, some people think those songs are for Kofi B but they are not his.
One thing that hurts me is giving out my songs to people. If Daddy Lumba had given me just one song, I would have been bigger than I am today,” he said.
Recounting his own experience, Ofori noted that Kofi B was first hesitant to accept “Yaw Dompre” since he thought of it as a song for “villagers.” However, after it was released, the song became popular.
Ofori Amponsah has made remarks of this nature before. He said something similar on TV XYZ in 2022.

“If I can reverse everything, I will decide not to help any musician because my help was a shortcut in the careers of a lot of musicians,” he told Agyemang Prempeh.
He boasted about his ability as a songwriter, saying that, with the exception of Samini, he had written verses for nearly every musician he had ever worked with.
In addition to Kofi B, Ofori Amponsah has composed songs for Kofi Nti and Barosky.
