The Office of the Denkyirahemaa, representing the Denkyira Traditional Area, has formally addressed claims of verbal assaults directed at the Queen Mother, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, by Nana Obiri Boahen, a noted legal practitioner and member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A statement released by Lawyer E.K. Nanah on behalf of the Denkyirahemaa’s office declared that the Queen Mother is not engaged in any disputes that would justify such attacks from Lawyer Boahen.
Portion of the statement read: “For the avoidance of doubt the Denkyirahemaa is never aware of any such things the lawyer is alluding to in the publications. She is minded by ensuring peace and unity in the Denkyiraman. And such trivialities would not distract her”.
Background
Nana Obiri Boahen on behalf of the embattled Chief of Diaso doubling as Adontenhene of Denkyira Traditional Area, Nana Yitta Amoako II and the Obaapanin Agnes Konadu, the head of Asona Asenkye Royal Family of Diaso Palace took a swipe at the Denkyirahemaa for ‘promoting’ chieftaincy dispute in the area.
According to the outspoken lawyer, the conduct of the Denkyira queen mother and other kingmakers is ‘repugnant, contemptuous, disrespectful’ to the administration of justice.
He said, the respondents are also ‘engaging in an act with the view of undermining the administration of justice when substantive suit is sub-judice’.
