The Ghana Education Service (GES) has been asked by residents of Nkroful, the birthplace of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, to exclude certain history books that obscure historical information regarding Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
They urged the GES to call the author of the book entitled “Golden History of Ghana for Basic Six pupils in Ghanaian schools” to order.
Mr. Mireku Tumi, President of the Esiama Development Association, spoke at a news conference at the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum in Nkroful, which was attended by the elites and well-meaning sons and daughters of Nzema, voicing the displeasure and discomfort of Dr. Nkrumah’s family and Nzemas over the perceived demonization of their illustrious son, who was the touch bearer of Africa’s independence.
Earlier, the youth community marched in red bands from Esiama to Nkroful, carrying placards that read “Stop the Assaults on Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,” “Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is Africa’s Man of the Millennium,” “Change Not Ghana’s History,” and “Respect Nkrumah’s Legacies” as well as others.
The conference observed that misleading and skewed publications have slandered Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s identity and the reputation of Nzemas.
According to the meeting, the author and publishers intended to misrepresent global culture, deceive future generations, and divide Ghana.
“The Convention People’s Party (CPP) wasted Ghana’s resources to assist certain African countries in obtaining independence, with 10 million pounds for Guinea to struggle for independence from France,” according to page 36 of the History report, which was previewed at the news conference.
According to the novel, Kwame Nkrumah’s government disregarded conventional authority.
“The CPP disregarded traditional authority, causing several chiefs to defect from the party.”
Mr Tumi claims that the argument regarding assisting other African countries was not made in vain.
“This is one of the funniest African jokes, because if providing financial aid, policies, and bilateral assistance to African countries to help them achieve independence was a waste of time, our numerous African leaders will not meet almost every year to discuss Africa’s growth.”
