The University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS) has qualified for the one-eighth stage after contesting in the preliminary stage of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
After a keen contest between UPSHS and its competitors Okomfo Anokye SHS and Ejisuman SHS, the Cape Coast-based school won the contest with 49 points.
Ejisuman SHS followed with 26 points while Okomfo Anokye SHS scored 23 points at the end of the contest.
The NSMQ Preliminaries began on Friday, October 6, 2023, and will end on Monday, October 9, 2023.
In all, the preliminary stage is featuring 39 contests and the contest between UPSHS, Okomfo Anokye SHS and Ejisuman SHS was the second.
The venue for the NSMQ 2023 preliminary stage contests includes Saarah-Mensah Auditorium, KNUST; Kumapley Auditorium, KNUST and KNUST SHS.
A total of 117 schools are competing in the preliminary stage of the National Championship.
The contests for October 6, 2023, included the contest between Holy Child School, Wesley Grammar and St Andrews SHS as well as St. Mary’s Sem SHS, Winneba SHS and T.I. Amass, Ekumfi.
Winneba SHS won their contest with 42 points while Holy Child and T.I. Amass, Ekumfi failed to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
