The National Service Authority has directed national service personnel who are also engaged in full time employment particularly within the public sector, to immediately regularize their status or face severe consequences.
In a statement issued on May 19, 2025, the Authority cautioned such personnel to report to any of its regional offices nationwide or the Head office to voluntarily comply to this directive.
The have until Friday 23rd May 2025 after which any individual found to have engaged in such act will be made to face immediate deletion from the national service payroll. They will also be referred for prosecution and permanently disqualified from future public service engagement.
The warning comes after the submission of full enrolment lists for General Enrolment (2024/2025), Nurses Enrolment (2025/2026) and Teachers Enrolment (2025/2026) to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for data matching and verification.
The NSA stated that this exercise is aims to identify individuals unlawfully receiving dual income from both their employment and national service allowance, in violation of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).
The Authority urged all affected personnel to take advantage of this window to correct their records and avoid the full consequences of the law.
