The New Patriotic Party is set to acclaim President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on Saturday, June 27, 2020 as the party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming 2020 general elections.
A statement signed by the Party’s General Secretary; John Boadu said “the acclamation of the Presidential Candidate together with his Running Mate will be done at a special National Council meeting of the Party to be held in Accra with the media and relevant stakeholders in attendance.”
President Akufo Addo is the only candidate who has picked a nomination form to represent its party at the 2020 general elections hence the acclamation. President Akufo Addo, had already indicated to run the election with the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate.
The party will also hold Parliamentary Primaries in Gushegu Constituency in the Northern Region, Dormaa Central Constituency in the Bono Region and Kwadaso Constituencies in the Ashanti Region which were earlier suspended.

“With the Gushegu Constituency, the Party, after extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders, has, in line with Article 12 of the NPP Constitution, selected Mr. Hassan Tampuli, as its Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency. This follows the decision of the two aspiring Candidates, Hon. Iddi Ziblim and Osman Mahama, to withdraw from the parliamentary contest”, the statement said.

Also, in the Dormaa Constituency, Dr Yao Yeboah, who had initially contested Kwaku Agyemang Manu, who doubles as the incumbent Member of Parliament, and Minister for Health, has decided to “withdraw from the contest after the implementation of a successful roadmap”, allowing Mr. Manu to contest unopposed.
The NPP will, on Saturday, June, 20, 2020, organise its parliamentary primaries in constituencies it has Members of Parliament.
