The New Patriotic Party delegate in the Mfantseman Constituency have voted to maintain incumbent MP Ekow Quansah Hayford in their primaries.
Mr Quansah Hayford battled the ticket with his opponent James Korsah Brown. Confirmed results placed Mr Quansah Hayford ahead his contender with 611 votes. Mr James Korsah Brown, on the other hand, pulled 265 votes. The election was conducted in 36 electoral areas.
ATL FM NEWS reporter Victoria Adonu reports that there were some tensions at the Edumadze electoral area between supporters of Mr Korsah Brown and the incumbent MP over claims that Mr Hayford was paying bribes to the delegate at the centre of the voting exercise. The issue was later resolved after the accusers could not substantiate their claims.
In his victory message, Mr. Quansah Hayford said the time has come for all party members in the constituency to rally behind him to claim victory for the party in the December polls. According to him, all divisive tactics and any form of internal wranglings must be abhorred immediately as that is the only way to secure victory for the party in December.
He expressed gratitude to the delegate who he claims have “have massively endorsed his candidature” while calling on them to be moderate in their jubilation.
