The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has strongly rejected recent opinion polls circulating ahead of the party’s January 31 presidential primaries, describing them as misleading and intended to psychologically influence delegates.
Speaking during a campaign engagement, a leading member of the Bryan Acheampong campaign, Pius Enam Hadzide, questioned the credibility of the polls, insisting they do not reflect the true mood within the party.
“From the very beginning, I have said that some of these so-called polls are not polls at all. If they were polls, they would be fake at best,” he stated.
According to Mr. Hadzide, the surveys are being used as a strategic tool to create the impression that momentum has shifted in favor of other aspirants.
“They are psychological operations designed to hoodwink delegates into thinking the tide is on somebody else’s side,” he added.
Mr. Hadzide explained that the Acheampong campaign has chosen a different approach, focusing on extensive grassroots engagement rather than relying on what he described as “manufactured polling data.”
“We have gone beyond polling. We have done profiling. At the polling station level, we know where the chairman will vote, where the secretary will vote, where the organizer will vote. They talk among themselves, and we know what our figures are telling us,” he said.
He maintained that interactions with party structures across the country show overwhelming enthusiasm and confidence in Dr. Acheampong leadership, noting “You can see the enthusiasm, the interest, and the manifest expressions of trust and confidence in Dr. Brian Acheampong wherever we go.”
The campaign spokesperson also accused some pollsters of spreading misinformation and disinformation, questioning the transparency of their methodologies.
“We don’t know their sample sizes, we don’t know the analytical tools they are using, yet we are supposed to believe them,” he said.
Turning attention to the broader contest, Mr. Hadzide urged delegates to focus on which candidate is best positioned to unite the party and reposition it for victory in the 2028 general elections.
“The real issues are who can unify the party, restore discipline, reorganize and empower the base, and govern this country with distinction,” he stressed.
He argued that Dr. Acheampong’s private sector experience and extensive nationwide campaign give him a clear edge, revealing that the aspirant has already completed tours of all 16 regions and 276 constituencies and has begun a second round of engagements.
“Dr. Acheampong has shown the energy, resourcefulness and organizational capacity needed to run a vigorous campaign and defeat the NDC,” he added.
Expressing confidence ahead of the primaries, Mr. Hadzide predicted a decisive outcome in favor of Dr. Acheampong, declaring “We are confident without any doubt that Dr. Brian Acheampong will be elected by a landslide on January 31.”
