Several members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who had previously joined the Movement for Change have now returned to the NPP.
The group announced they are severing ties with Alan Kyerematen, the former Trade Minister and founder of the breakaway political movement.
Since Dr. Bawumia’s speech on February 7, 2024, the group has reconsidered their position.
At a news conference, the group’s leader, Alfred Ababio Kumi highlighted that Dr. Bawumia has effectively laid out the nation’s progress, challenges, and his strategic solutions.
“Dr. Bawumia’s vision is compelling and makes us, as young people, want to support his leadership,” he explained.
He also emphasized that their decision to return to the NPP was not influenced by financial incentives, but by a genuine belief in the NPP party’s approach to the nation’s challenges.
Mr. Kumi expressed their renewed support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision for Ghana adding that “we’ve realized we made a mistake and are eager to correct it,”
The group firmly believes that Dr. Bawumia has the best plan for the country’s future.
“He knows our history, our needs, our achievements, our shortcomings, and has a clear strategy to address these issues moving forward,” Kumi added.
Meanwhile, the Nationwide Supporters of Alan Cash (NAWSAC) have accused the NPP of trying to bribe young voters to leave the Movement for Change.
In a statement on April 22, 2024, Luther-King Junior, a representative of NAWSAC, urged young people to resist such tactics and continue their support for AlanKyerematen.
They criticized both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their manipulative strategies.
