The Presidency has announced that no prima facie case has been established against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, her deputies and the Special Prosecutor.
According to a statement issued by Presidency Communications, a letter from the Chief Justice to the Presidency dated 26th January, 2026, intimated that “…no prima facie case has been established by the petitions to warrant any further investigations for the removal of the Electoral Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners and the Special Prosecutor.”
It is important to recall that seven (7) petitions calling for the removal of the Chairperson of the EC, her deputies and the Special Prosecutor were referred to the Chief Justice in line with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 15 of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959) on 25th November, 2025.
The statement was dated Wednesday, February 18, 2026 and issued under the office of the Minister of State, in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
