The National Media Commission (NMC) has issued a warning to 15 television stations, directing them to stop broadcasting programs that is not acceptable for public consumption.
The NMC cautioned that if they do not advise themselves, they may face serious repercussions.
The public filed complaints against these TV stations for presenting content that went against Ghanaian culture, customs, and conventions as well as media ethics.
Asomdwie TV, Funny TV, Advice TV, Big TV, Adwenpa TV, Eagle TV, Best TV, Energy TV, Diamond TV, X TV, Nkabom TV, Seekers TV, and Elephant TV are a few among them.
“For the stations listed above, we hereby serve them notice to cease and desist from those activities, otherwise there will be severe consequences,” the NMC said in a statement released today, November 16.
The Commission said that the reportage was the outcome of a collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA) to find and fix flaws in broadcast content.
The data shows that 318 cases were reported by the general population. Among the occurrences submitted to the commission were 224 cases of money-doubling, 83 money rituals, 24 fake lotteries, 18 occult practises, and 13 incidences involving pornography.
The rest of the complaints related to fake loan schemes and people seeking to use fraudulent means to extract money from others.

The NMC announced that it will shortly inform the public of its decision on the aforementioned TV stations.
