The National Labor Commission (NLC) has directed the 4 disgruntled University Staff Unions to return to the negotiation table with government in order to discuss issues related to their condition of service.
The Unions include the University Teachers Association (UTAG), Tertiary Education Workers Union (TEWU), Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA)
This direction was the outcome of meetings between the NLC and the 4 university staff unions.
The talks are scheduled for Friday, October 14, and Monday, October 17 after which the parties involved are to report back to NLC on Wednesday 19th, 2022 at 3 pm.
As a result, the intended strike action which was to commence on Tuesday 13th October has been postponed until further notice.
Furthermore, the labor unions have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with leadership to address their problems.
It will be recalled that these labor unions threatened to go on strike due to their working conditions being overly varied at their expense, with government intending to apply the same condition without knowledge.
