During a drug enforcement agency raid, a popular Nigerian skit creator was apprehended.
Sunday Joshua, also known as De General, was found with Tramadol, a banned drug used to treat pain, and cannabis.
During the raid, he went live on his Instagram account, which has over 700,000 followers.
De General has not commented on his arrest, but according to a statement from the agency, he acknowledged to possessing the drugs discovered in his home.
His friends, on the other hand, have informed local media that he was set up.
Why He Was Arrested
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has stated why comedian Sunday Martins was detained.
Sunday Joshua Martins, a Nigerian comedian known as De General, was apprehended by NDLEA agents in Lagos State on Wednesday.
The NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, told Daily Trust on Wednesday in Abuja that the comedian was detained for drug-related concerns.
“He (Martins) was arrested because drugs were found in his house. A detailed statement will be issued shortly,” Babafemi said.
In the early hours of Wednesday, 12th January 2022, a video showing NDLEA officers arresting famed Instagram skit artist DGeneral at his home emerged on social media.
In the said video, the officials of the agency were seen trying to arrest the skit maker. While resisting arrest, the comedian was overheard stating, “I know my fundamental human right.”
