The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has issued an urgent directive to all accredited hospitals and clinics across Ghana, following a temporary disruption in some of its electronic hospital management systems.
The Authority confirmed that the glitch, which has affected certain health facilities nationwide, is being addressed in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and relevant technical teams.

In a public notice, the NHIA urged all healthcare providers under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to continue serving patients without interruption despite the digital setback.
“NHIS members should not be subjected to any financial burden or out-of-pocket payments because of this temporary system disruption,” the Authority emphasized.
To ensure continued access to care, the NHIA has instructed facilities to use the mobile-based Claims Check Code (CCC) platform for claims processing and patient verification until full system functionality is restored.
The Authority also warned hospitals against charging patients or exploiting the situation for profit, stressing that disciplinary action will be taken against facilities found violating the directive.
NHIS members experiencing challenges have been encouraged to contact the NHIA Call Centre on 054-444-6447 for assistance.
Expressing appreciation for the public’s patience, the NHIA reaffirmed its commitment to restoring system stability swiftly and maintaining the trust of healthcare providers and NHIS subscribers nationwide.
“The NHIA sincerely appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of healthcare providers and NHIS members as we work urgently to resolve the issue,” the notice concluded.
