A Cape Coast based Non-Governmental Organization has launched a Foundation dubbed Abraham Smile Foundation with the aim of undertaking projects to better the lives of the inhabitants of Cape Coast and its surroundings.
The launch which coincided with a clean-up exercise at the Abura Market and the provision of free food for the needy was to help improve the sanitation situation at the market and support the needy to be self-reliant.
Speaking at the launch, the founder and General Secretary of the Abraham Smile Foundation, Ibrahim Muntari disclosed that the foundation had embarked on various charitable programmes and will also be engaged in same to help to improve the wellbeing of the residents of Cape Coast.
“Basically, what we do is that, we help to solve societal problems. Another thing we do is we sometimes visit old women and old men in our community to show some appreciation for their service to our community. Apart from that, we are planning to setup a place we will call Cape Coast Job Centre where people in the community will come and register then we find jobs and opportunities for them. We are also in the near future going to help get scholarships for students who have completed Senior High School. In fact we are planning to do a whole lot,” he said.
He further urged the youth and the leaders of the nation to contribute their quota to make the society a better place for all to live in.
“When it is our birthday and we decide to visit the orphanage and give the money we will use to organize a birthday party to the orphans, it is us helping the community. The youth should also be proactive and more sensitive towards the needs of the community. After all, we are the ones that the future will affect more so we are the ones to make today good so that tomorrow we will live a better life. And our stakeholders should also put in place measures that would encourage people to be sensitive towards the society,” he urged.
He further called for the revival of the Sanitation day that was introduced by the government some time ago saying that it is one way to ensure that our environments are always clean.
