The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has announced plans to develop a new national agribusiness policy, with input from key industry stakeholders to ensure it addresses the sector’s real challenges.
Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Minister, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, revealed during an interview on Citi FM’s Citi Breakfast Show on Friday, July 25, that the government is adopting a bottom-up approach to policy development through a National Agribusiness Dialogue.
Partnership with Agri-Impact
The Ministry is partnering with Agri-Impact, a leading agribusiness consultancy firm, to bring together farmers, agribusinesses, investors, and policymakers for the dialogue.

“We are partnering with Agri-Impact, and they are big players in the agribusiness consultancy space. We’re working with them to bring together all stakeholders in the agribusiness industry for the dialogue,” the Minister said.
Ensuring Ownership and Effective Implementation
According to Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare, the purpose of the dialogue is to formulate a policy that reflects the practical needs of those within the agricultural value chain.
“This dialogue is to get a policy that reflects the needs of the people. We want the policy to come from within so that it solves a real problem. The whole idea is that once they contribute, they will own it. And if they do, implementation will be easier,” she explained.
Presidential Participation
The National Agribusiness Dialogue is scheduled for Monday, July 28, at the Kempinski Hotel, Accra, with President John Dramani Mahama expected to attend as the special guest of honour.
