The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the University Teachers Association (UTAG) says it has indefinitely suspended its strike action which began on January 10, 2022.
NEC-UTAG voted to temporarily suspend the strike action on Monday, 21st February 2022 to pave way for negotiations.
A referendum was subsequently held and 12 out of 15 UTAG branches voted to reject the call for the suspension.
In a release signed by the national president, Professor Solomon Nunoo, and secretary, Dr. Asare Asante-Annor, the association indicated that it has resolved to pursue the agreements with government for their employer to implement the market premium and review the single spine salary structure in 2023.
This according to NEC will help in addressing the concerns of the association’s poor conditions of service.
The release further reiterated the awareness of disappointment and dissatisfaction of its members and urged them to remain calm and accept the interim proposals.
