The Director General for the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Dr. Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa has commended the Ghana Statistical Service for what he refers to as a fantastic performance in the just ended 2021 population census in Ghana.
According to him, the provisional results of the census coming just in time and figures matching the estimations of the NDPC only means that Ghana is at par with global standards.

He noted that the NDPC has done a lot of projections on Ghana’s population for use of planning adding that ‘if you look at some of the specific things we have done regarding infrastructure and housing and population, the figure that we have used and played around with was 31 million so to come out with exact figure of 30.8 is just 200,000 short of what we were using. So it means that our estimations and projections have been quiet well”
“Looking at the provisional broadcaster they made, we are comparing ourselves to the UN standards and the United States and I have seen it in so many countries and I know how this is done.” He said
In an interview monitored by ATL FM NEWS, he said the work of the Ghana Statistical Service in the census exercise has put Ghana in a positive light and deserves commendation.
